studlycaps and I went to dinner last night, and decided for kicks to go see a movie too. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was the most timely and interesting thing we both wanted to see, so we bought our tickets and walked in (to 15 minutes of fucking commercials... since when did that happen?!).
This was honestly one of the best movies I've seen in a very long time. Possibly one of the best ever. It gives some incredible demonstrations of the nuances of memories and relationships and "self" that we could all stand to think of now and then. Things like communication, being true to yourself and others, good times vs. bad times, "those who do not learn from the past", honesty, etc. It really is an absolutely incredible movie... one that is definately going in my collection at the earliest opportunity. I want it to get an oscar nomination for best screenplay.
studlycaps helped me come to some realizations about why living in the city is nice. I can go to a movie and not worry about the fact that it gets out at midnight, becuase I don't have a 45 minute drive home to think about. We just hopped a cab, dropped him at his place, then went to mine. That DEFINATELY works for me :)
