The second hole...
Dec. 2nd, 2005 @ 11:41 pm
So, what I've done my best not to mention is that over t-day weekend I managed to get an earring (I wanted people to find out/notice through exposure to me, not through here). Apparently it's tradition in Elyssa's household, and I was participating as one of their own, so I was included. Okay... I'll do it. And I did.
Today I made the biggest mistake EVER. I took it out. And tried to put it back in. And in the rarest of instances, I couldn't find the hole. Er... I could find the ENTRANCE to the hole, but somehow I just couldn't find the EXIT of the hole. In the end, I gave up finding the "old" end, and decided that I wanted the earring enough to just go through with it. It's a piercing-style earring. It's pointy on one end. So I just pushed it through.
So, on the front of my ear, I have one hole... but I'm betting money that on the back, I have two... and maybe an infection, who knows... though I did my best. It does sting/throb as though it's been hurt. *sigh* oh well. At least I've had a bottle-of-wine's worth of alcohol to dull the throbbing pain. ;)

it's probably more sore from you digging around trying to poke through. keep it cleaned with ispropyl alcohol and turn the stud frequently.

isn't that just a marketing ploy to get you to spend $5.00 or $10.00 or whatever amount on their disinfectant, instead of $.50 on a bottle of rubbing alcohol?
i have 2 holes in each ear and i've used both for disinfecting. didn't really notice a difference, except in my wallet. ;)
In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter that much, since the Claire's gives you a massive bottle of the disinfectant for free anyway... so no problem :)
Yea, you really shouldn't take any kind of jewelery out for at least 6 weeks on new piercings. When the body is still in its "ew wtf is this, get rid of it" mode, you'd be surprised how fast one can heal. Navel piercings can close up entirely overnight. I've lost both a regular ear lobe piercing and an eyebrow piercing that way.
I've done that a few times. Over the years I have had my left ear pierced twice, my right ear pierced once, and I had my cartilidge pierced in my right ear once... All but the stud in my left ear have healed over. And I've re-pierced the back of that thing a thousand times by "accident". I know... It hurts. Just keep it clean and you'll be okay. :)
