i do this whenever i am wearing a button-fly because buttoning back up requires more focus and time than socially acceptable. :P
i have also noticed that the straight guys in my office tend to do this when one of the gay guys is already using one of the urinals (and vice versa).
hrm... on first point, I suppose I can see that too... though the process of buttoning back up doesn't cross my mind until after the need-to-pee feeling has been dealt with. :)
second point, well... okay... but in this instance, there was no one else there...?
I wonder if I could just be completely crass and ask someone when they're leaving the bathroom :P I wonder if someone can make a complete list of the number of mens-room etiquette rules that'd be violating... ;)
This is also required when you're wearing N layers of snow ski clothing. It's also helpful if you want to retuck your shirt into your pants.
Ah yes... whizzing when gear'd up is intensely frustrating... all these bits of stuff getting in the way of the stream... but I just figured that everyone else is prob in the same situation I am, and just do it off to the side... no stall required...
uhm... gear up off to the side... not piss off to the side... that didn't come out quite right... :P
One thing that some of the ski areas do is have a metal mesh basket in the stall for your gloves, etc., and there's often a hook for hanging things on the stall door (e.g. your hydration fanny pack).
These amenities are usually not available to urinal users.
