Wow...
I'm in the office today, working away...
Suddenly I see this flash of bright light across the building... INSIDE the building...
I sit, waiting for the fire sirens to go off...
Then the crash of thunder... maybe a second later...
Our building was just struck by lightning. Every person in the building is standing, staring over their cubes in shock.

That had to be something 'sporty' to watch. Although I've never been in a building that got struck, we did have a strike close by when I was on Minuteman crew. All we had downstairs was a power chamgeover and a computer restart and some indicators that waivered. Upstairs however I guess it was a much 'brighter' show. At one point we were ready to bring the topside crew downstairs. The next morning I got a full look at what happened. A lightening rod got hit but the associated storm and shock from the strike blew out some windows. The top of the rod was sizzled off. Lots of wind damage from that storm, too. |
