Okay... I'm over it now...

Previous Entry Okay... I'm over it now... Apr. 7th, 2006 @ 09:01 pm Next Entry
I haven't bitched about the rain even once... it really doesn't bother me... I don't really get down... it doesn't ruin my life... and in fact, I kinda like sitting on the couch watching TV or reading a book with my hot chocolate (complete with baileys) listening to the sound of the rain falling outside... knowing that I'm comfortably protected from the howling wind threatening to blow the house down outside... underneath it all praying that a landslide won't whisk me down the the hill with the hottub.

However... tonight the rain interrupted my plans. I was gonna go to the city and spend some quality time with studlycaps, one of the many friendships I haven't been giving nearly enough attention to lately... and I got on 280 north... past two exits... and the traffic came to a crawl.

I called 511, and got traffic conditions...

"I have 5 notices for interstate 280. First, there is a slowdown between Edgewood Rd and Westborough. Traffic is traveling between 10 and 30 MPH. Next, there is a slowdown between Daly City and the Geneva exit. Traffic is traveling between 5 and 15 MPH. Next, there is a slowdown between [some road} and the 101 connector. Traffic is traveling between 15 and 25 MPH." *click*

Okay... so traffic is completely slowed down because people don't know how to drive in the rain, and they're all scared, and half of them can't afford decent tires/cars, so they're justifiably paranoid they're going to hydroplane off of the bridge.

Fine... I'm now officially tired of the rain. It's ruined my evening's plans, and it needs to stop. Now. Tonight. I'm over it. Thank you.

It could be worse--try 8" of wet snow dumping on your day. That was Thursday here in Utah. Then again, fun here consists of watching snow melt.

(Like anyone should complain about 8" ....)
