I really need to learn to stay away from brunch. It's far too expensive. Well... brunch itself isn't (in fact, neverending mimosas at Lime is down right economical)... but the shopping and frivolity that happens afterward is. I keep telling myself I'm gonna save money (or at least start paying things down), but somehow I just don't get that far. *sigh* Oh well... it's fun until they start demanding payment ;)
It was however a beautiful day in the city (far better than I expected... many things to studlycaps's closet)... but brunch with him and my boss's wife (hopefully this doesn't get weird) was a great time. It sucks that everything shuts down at 6-7pm downtown. I'm sure there were more things that I didn't need. Alas.
So, supposedly the city was voting on a ban on campfires on Ocean Beach... so Boss's Wife and I ended up hanging out with a bunch of her work friends until 10 around a fairly large fire. Flying the stunt kite was cool (I'd forgotten how much I missed flying kites), and just hanging out talking about burning man, etc. I'm seriously beginning to think that the paranoia I seem to have about "illicit" things is just that... paranoia. The more candidly you talk to people about them, the more you find that are occasionally, RESPONSIBLY taking vacations from their minds. What I like about it is the lack of judgement, and the fact that these are all mid-30's professionals (in some cases executives) that are amazingly okay with it... and are even going to burning man (not for that... but it's a definate fringe benefit).
Maybe it's just living in the bay area... but I like it. :)
